Green tea: what is it?
Green tea is a set of leaves whose origin is common to other teas: Camellia Sinensis. Green tea is not fermented: the process of oxidation of the leaves by the oxygen in the air is interrupted. It therefore keeps its green leaves. After infusion, it has a light, rather yellow color with an odor of algae and a grassy, iodized taste. Each producing country has a multitude of types of green tea: sencha, matcha, gyokuro, long jing, genmaicha (associated with rice) or gunpowder.
A metabolism stimulator.
The green tea plant has two compounds that play a role in stimulating metabolism: theine and a catechin (powerful antioxidant). The mixture of these two compounds reveals slimming properties: they limit the absorption and assimilation of lipids. In addition, theine promotes lipolysis, i.e. fat burning. The bitter chemicals and polyphenols in green tea have a powerful detox effect on the liver. Having a healthy liver is the pillar of a good metabolism, essential to obtain or maintain your ideal weight.
A powerful diuretic
Green tea is known to promote renal elimination of water. Containing more catechin than other teas, its diuretic effect is more powerful. It facilitates drainage and transit, therefore the elimination of bad toxins and accumulated fats.
Ally against sugar cravings
Regular consumption of bitter substances found in green tea changes the taste buds so that sweet foods become less desirable. If the bitter receptors of the taste buds are frequently used, sweet foods are less well distinguished by the palate and lose their appeal. Appetite and sugar cravings are therefore
attenuated. This helps maintain normal glucose levels and better assimilation.
In conclusion, green tea does not contain calories if consumed without added sugar. It therefore has no influence on the energy balance of the body. You can consume it regularly and prefer it to sodas or sugary drinks. It should be considered as a natural accelerator of your metabolism. It will be beneficial, in addition to dietary measures, to achieve your ideal weight naturally and sustainably.
